The Philadelphia Eleven
Thursday, January 4, 2024, 2:40 PM
On July 29, 1974, eleven women were ordained as priests in Philadelphia — the first female priests in The Episcopal Church. Their ordination violated the constitution and canons of The Episcopal Church at that time. These women were harassed, lost friends, and banned from stepping on church property. In this compelling new documentary, we meet the women who succeeded in building a movement that transformed the Church. Following the screening, a discussion will follow with a panel including Bishop Anne Jolly and the Rev. Nancy Wittig, one of the 11 women.
