Despite the conflicts of the Protestant Reformation, the church today is growing ever closer through ecumenical dialogue and common mission. In this forum, we will hear from the Rev. Abraham Allende, Bishop of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Come welcome Bishop Allende and hear his perspective on the Call to Common Mission agreement between the ELCA and the Episcopal Church.
Bishop Allende will also preach in the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. worship services.
Bishop Allende was elected Bishop of the 180 congregations in the Northeastern Ohio Synod in May, 2014. Prior to his election as bishop, he served the Lutheran Church of the Covenant in Maple Heights. Previously, he served as Pastor and Mission Developer of Iglesia Luterana La Trinidad in Canton, Ohio. A second-career pastor, Bishop Allende has held successful positions in the fields of education, broadcasting, and as a professional baseball executive. A native of Puerto Rico, he grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
