Organ Recital: Gail Archer

Dr. Gail Archer will present an organ recital on Friday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nave.

Dr. Archer is a dynamic presence in the American organ scene. In addition to her academic duties at Barnard and Vassar, she is a sought after recitalist. She will play significant works by the masters of yesteryear, J.S. Bach. D. Buxtehude, J.P. Sweelinck, G. Frescobaldi  and the great Fantasy on A Mighty Fortress is Our God by the Romantic era composer Max Reger.

Dr. Archer is known for her advocacy for women composers and will include two works by American composers Libby Larson and Mary Howe. Of great interest will be her recent commission by the Canadian composer Judy Shatin, Dust and Shadow.
