Come learn more about St. Paul’s three organs at this hands-on event!
On Sunday, December 20, at 4 p.m., St. Paul’s organist/choirmaster Karel Paukert will offer an introduction to St. Paul’s three organs, their inner workings, their history, and more. He will provide some handouts, including a glossary of the common terms — manuals, stops, key action, free combinations, etc.
The Holtkamp organ in the front is “crawlable;” you can actually enter into the organ case! The other two are much smaller, with mechanical action, but can be “visited” by removing the various panels.
You might even try your favorite tune on one of them. (Do not worry about the proper organ shoes!)
Plan to assemble in the rear gallery around 4 p.m. to begin the crawl! All cordially invited!
