Sunday November 8
“Joy: A Spirituality of Pope Francis,” led by Dr. Natalie Kertes Weaver, Professor of Religious Studies at Ursuline College.

FrancisPope Francis has the “it” factor that has everyone talking. His public humility, challenging and timely encyclicals, daring comments with the press, and media presence have given a refreshing new face to the papacy. Taking his cues from St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Francis has turned dialogue in the Catholic Church to critical challenges of our day, including a renewed focus on poverty, environmental well-being, family life, and core human dignity. At the root of his spirituality is a fundamental joy of Christian life, especially as it is experienced and celebrated at the grassroots level. This talk will explore Pope Francis’ spirituality of joy in light of his two key encyclicals: Evangelii Gaudium and Laudato Si.
