The Great Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter, 8 p.m.
An ancient rite, rich in powerful symbol: the new fire and Paschal Candle are lit and the ancient hymn of praise, the Exsultet, is chanted. We begin in darkness. With the kindling of the new fire, the light of Christ again comes into the world and we hear the story of salvation history through Holy Scripture and music. The Easter Acclamation heralds Christ’s Resurrection and the first celebration of Easter.
All are welcome and encouraged to experience together this rich liturgical offering. Drawn from the ancient practice of our faith, the Great Vigil offers an opportunity to experience the joy of Easter in a new way.
