James HigdonSt. Paul’s welcomes James Higdon (University of Kansas), who will concentrate on the life and works of the visionary French composer, Jehan Alain, in his master class/lecture – September 23, 2 p.m. – and in a recital – September 24, 4 p.m.

Higdon recently recorded all of Alain’s organ works, some on the organ of the Alain family housed now in Switzerland. In his lecture, he will unfold Alain’s captivating life story from his studies at Paris Conservatory, to his untimely death during the Second World War.

This two week series of concerts and talks has been arranged by St. Paul’s organist and choirmaster Karel Paukert as a tribute to St. Paul’s fine instruments.
