A service of Lessons & Carols will be presented by St. Paul’s choirs at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, with a Handbell Prelude beginning at 4:30 p.m. A carillon concert will follow the service.
The Service of Lessons and Carols is one of the gems of the Anglican liturgical tradition. The sequence of Advent readings takes us from Adam and Eve’s rebellion against God, through prophetic words of hope, to the Angel Gabriel’s annunciation to the Virgin Mary. In between readings we hear choral offerings from our adult and children’s choirs, and join in singing Advent hymns.
The lessons will be read this year by St. Paul’s partners in outreach: Annemarie Grassi, founder, Open Doors Academy; Brandon Chrostowski, founder, EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute; Shelley Pulling, principal, Roxboro Elementary School; Kathy Tschiegg, founder, Central American Medical Outreach; and Fr. David Bargetzi, rector, St. Luke’s, Cleveland; among others.
St. Paul’s clergy will co-officiate. You will not want to miss the prelude music, nor the candlelight procession that opens the service. Arrive early — all are welcome!
